Langley, BC - Just 35 years ago, the first women's shelter in British Columbia opened to provide a safe haven for victims of familial abuse. Today the Ishtar Transition Housing Society provides supportive services to women, men and children. In addition to two transition houses, they run programs such as "Boundaries and Beginnings" and "Children Who Witness Abuse". Sutton Group - West Coast Realty hopes to raise $1,000 for this charity at their community appreciation barbeque, raffle and auction on August 23. "We hope it will be a great turn-out for the event and a reminder of the important work being done at the Ishtar Transition Housing Society," says Jill Sinclair, a REALTOR® at Sutton Group - West Coast Realty. "It's unfortunate that as a community we need such a service, but the reality is that we do, and Ishtar Transition Housing Society is truly a haven of support and love."
