Red Deer, AB - In a recent visit to Mozambique (Southeastern Africa), Neall Stevens, broker of Sutton Group - Landmark Realty in Red Deer, impacted the lives of children in a Mozambique orphanage. He presented six soccer balls, pens, pencils, crayons and other supplies to the orphans. The gifts brought bright smiles on their faces while young boys initiated a spontaneous game of soccer. Inspired by the positive reaction, Neall came back to Canada with a goal, to raise one dollar from each Sutton Realtor®. The funds will be dedicated to restoring the roof of the orphanage, damaged by fallen trees. The donations will also sponsor a stove, integral to cooking for the 125 children.

Neall shared, "I've always had my mind on volunteering in another country and sought the advice of a former colleague of mine, whose son was just appointed Canadian High Commissioner in Mozambique". Once there, the Sutton broker connected with a local who arranged a visit to the orphanage. Upon arrival, Neall was taken aback by the dire conditions. The facilities were originally a prison/home for the elderly where the prisoners looked after the residents.

"We need to reach out to other parts of the world and show that we care. By improving their quality of life, we can have an impact on the unrest", said Stevens. "We are fortunate to live and grow up in a country where our notoriety is not measured by being the 170th of the 175 poorest nations in the world".

Neall is addressing each Sutton member in efforts to raise the necessary funds for the roof repair and stove. The donations will be sent through the Canadian High Commissioner in Mozambique to ensure that every dollar goes to this initiative only.
