Parksville, BC - David Peters is not only a Realtor® at Sutton Group - Whitecap Realty, he is the president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Parksville, BC. David became a member of the organization a year ago and was elected president shortly after. Kimberly Keck, David's wife who is also a Realtor® at Sutton Group - Whitecap Realty, is the Ladies Auxiliary vice-president for the local chapter. The Fraternal Order of Eagles is an international, non-profit organization that helps the community in which they live and beyond. David's chapter is one of many that organizes events to raise funds and awareness for various causes.

The Fraternal Order of Eagles was originally formed in the United States in 1886 with the mission to support communities through donating to social programs, charities and important causes. There are over 1,700 local aeries and auxiliaries and more than a million members in the US and Canada. David's local aerie was chartered in 1983 and the Ladies Auxiliary in 1991. He says his Parksville chapter "promotes people helping people in the Parksville community and provides a friendly place for fellowship and camaraderie". His chapter currently has 27 male members and 30 women in the Ladies Auxiliary.

The Parksville Aerie holds events all year round to support an extensive list of charities and causes. They run bingo every Sunday night, public dances once a month, caterings, and weddings. The chapter has donated to Muscular Dystrophy, the BC Heart & Stroke Foundation, Juvenile Diabetes, Alzheimer's, Schizophrenia, and youth guidance programs to name a few. Their next large event is the annual camp out pig roast, which will be from July 13th-15th, 2007, at the First Nations campground in Qualicum Bay. They are also holding a Halloween dance and a car rally in November. This Aerie raises an average of $30,000 to $40,000 a year and over the past 10 years has raised approximately $350,000. "It feels great to give back; I enjoy contributing to something important", says David.

In addition to playing an integral role in the Fraternal Order of Eagles, David has personally given back to his community. He has donated to the BC Heart & Stroke Foundation and the Oceanside Community Church Youth Group. David and Kim have assisted Dan Jack, Realtor® at Sutton Group - Whitecap Realty, with the "Pig n' Fin" event that runs in August to raise funds for AIM (Association of Injured Motorcyclists). For David, it is all about giving back, "when you give without expecting anything in return, it comes back 100 times."
