Calgary, AB - Broker Lorne Coultman of Sutton Group - Altawest has recently been elected Director of the Calgary Real Estate Board. He has been a long time member of the Board and will be sworn in January 2008. He will have many responsibilities and hopes to implement several initiatives. Members of his office also contribute to the community on a continual basis.

Since 1993, Lorne has been heavily involved with the Calgary Real Estate Board. He has been on the investigating committee for over 3 years. This committee regulates complaints between REALTORS® and protects the public. After all his dedication, Lorne will become the Director of the Board on January 16, 2008.

As Director, Lorne will have several duties. He will set Board policy and manage member requests and demands. He will also make sure there is open communication between members and Directors of the Board. In addition, Lorne has several objectives as Director. He wants to increase member knowledge of the real estate industry through proper communication and wants to ensure members are well represented in terms of new regulations. Lorne is also glad that Sutton has strong exposure within the Calgary real estate industry. "It's great that Sutton has a say in what happens in the industry, is involved, and wants to make a difference", expressed Lorne.

In addition, Sutton Group - Altawest is a diligent supporter of the community. In February 2008, several members of the office team will sponsor a dinner dance fundraiser that supports "Between Friends", which is an organization that provides social and recreational programs to children and adults with disabilities. In addition, for several years Lorne's daughter, Jade Coultman, has been assisting those who are deaf and hard of hearing with purchasing or selling homes. Lorne believes that giving back to the community is something that needs to be done. "It's important to get your name out there and show that you are there to help. Take some time to volunteer and get involved."
