Calgary, AB - Diane Payne of Sutton Group - Canwest focuses a significant amount of her time towards the community. She is currently on two curling teams that recently won two tournaments. She also has been on the Calgary Real Estate Board for a number of years and recently organized their Forecast Breakfast and Trade Show.

It is Diane's first year back in curling after 30 years. From February 4-6, she participated in the Calgary Annual Ladies Open Curling Bonspiel held at the Calgary Winter Club. She was part of a five person team which claimed the Champion/A Division. The team received an engraved crystal wine glass, prize money and their names were preserved on a well-known curling trophy. "We were very honoured to have our names included with so many fine curlers", expressed Diane. In addition, Diane met an individual named Don Watson in passing, while she was holding a curling broom, and he asked her to be a Lead for his curling team. The team participated in the Department of Public Works Curling Bonspiel and won the championship.

Along with curling, Diane is heavily involved with the Calgary Real Estate Board. It is her 4th year on the Board and she was the Director Representative for the REALTORS® Care Charitable Foundation and has been on the technology and social committee. This year, she is the Director Representative for the Value of a REALTOR® Committee; its goal is to expand avenues to enhance the reputations of REALTORS®. She was also the 2008 Chairperson for the Calgary Real Estate Board Forecast Breakfast and Trade Show; she organized the event which took place on January 17. The trade show had over 1200 attendees and 139 exhibitors. "This is the Board's biggest event", said Diane.

Diana focuses on other parts of her community as well. She was a leader in Girl Guides, supported her son's hockey team and was part of Toastmasters International for a number of years. In her free time, she also assists her elderly neighbours, who have difficulty driving, with various errands. In the near future, she would like to work with a partner so she can participate and organize community events. Diane feels that "giving is like love; you can never give too much of it and it always comes back 10 fold in many different ways."
