fLondon, ON - After six months of planning by a group of dedicated volunteers, Sutton Group - Select Realty Inc.* held a very successful golf tournament to benefit Big Sisters. In total, the Sept. 5, 2008 event raised $5,282.13 for the non-profit organization, which pairs up girls in the community with ‘big sisters' who provide adult guidance and friendship. This tournament marks the 16th consecutive year that this office has held a charitable fundraiser. Big Sisters of London was the natural selection this time; two REALTORS® in the office currently volunteer with the organization.

The Golf Committee, chaired by REALTOR® Suzanne O'Toole, together with Bruce Sworik, Broker of Record, spent months contacting local businesses for corporate sponsorship and obtaining donations of prizes for their silent auction and raffles. The tournament took place at the Bear Creek Golf & Country Club. This 94-year-old course along the Sydenham River rewarded the team at Sutton Group - Select Realty Inc.* with challenging golf and beautiful scenery.

"Everyone who participated thoroughly enjoyed themselves," says Suzanne. "Even the rain held off until after we finished playing! We had approximately 30 golfers from the office including Broker of Record Bruce Sworik. Because we were playing for a good cause, everyone went home a winner!"

When it came to selecting the charity, there was no shortage of excellent organizations to support. "Last year, we chose the Run for Ovarian Cancer, which is a run to raise awareness of the disease and support early diagnosis. In the initial meeting of the committee this year, everyone suggested a charity that they would like to support. It was a difficult choice since they are all important. In the end, there was overwhelming support for Big Sisters because we have a few people in the office who are volunteering with them."
