Golfers to the Rescue

Kingston, ON – This year’s Charity Golf Tournament for the Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre was a huge success raising $6,838.45 to provide shelter, food, and medical care for injured and orphaned wild animals. Your Grant Team has organized this annual event for several years raising a grand total of $51,545.45. Rhonda Grant was thrilled that dozens of enthusiastic golfers came out to support this wonderful cause along with their special guest, Sue Meech, the founder of the wildlife centre.

Your Grant Team: Rhonda Grant, Brandon Grant, and Jamie O’Leary, sponsored a $10,000 Hole-in-One and while no one had the incredible stroke of luck to walk away with that prize, there were many other prizes and trophies.

“Ken Collins, a long-time supporter of SPWC, won the 50/50 draw and generously donated his prize to SPWC,” says Rhonda. “Our putting contest winner won a stay at The Best Western Fireside Inn in Kingston,” says Rhonda. “We are so grateful for this sponsor’s support every year.

“We also thank our tee sponsors: Sutton Group – Masters Realty Inc., Ken Collins, Edith and Steve Hrynchyshyn, Commercial Door Systems, MP Marine, Better Bath by Design, Leonard Heating and Cooling, Terry Grant Construction, Team Sabourin, Sousa Ready Mix, Frank Worldwide Movers, and Glenvale Industrial Storage.

“Thank you to our green sponsors: Ken Collins, Edith and Steve Hrynchyshyn, Stone City Financial, Better Bath by Design, NewCon Construction, CanWealth, Doug Alan Insurance Agencies, Cozy Car, Action Flooring, and Bay Electric.”

Rhonda and her family are long-time supporters of the Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre and happily volunteer many hours to organizing this fundraiser. The centre does not receive any government funding (although it is regulated by the government), so it relies entirely on donations and events such as this one.

Please visit https://sandypineswildlife.org to learn how to protect wildlife, volunteer, donate, or contribute items on their Wishlist (e.g., lettuce, apples, pumpkin seeds, cranberries, oat bran, and wild birdseed, as well as a wide range of supplies and equipment). In November, the centre often has a Black Friday auction of donated items.
