Gifts to All at the Winter Market
Vancouver, B.C. – Corwin Kwan and his wife recently donated food and toys at the SHARE Family and Community Services booth at IKEA Coquitlam’s Winter Market. He encourages people to enjoy the event from December 17 – 19 and, if possible, to donate to one (or both) of the community partners at the market: SHARE and the Canucks Autism Network. Donors receive a thank you coupon from IKEA worth $20 off a $150 purchase from January 2 – February 28, 2022.
SHARE Family & Community Services Society started as a children’s clothing exchange in 1972 in the basement of founder Gertie Grosser’s home. Today SHARE provides tenant and legal advocacy, counselling, English practice groups, a food bank program, and social housing. Visit www.sharesociety.ca.
Corwin’s spirit of giving lasts all year and not even the pandemic has dampened his enthusiasm. In November, just as floods devastated parts of B.C. including the Lower Mainland, the Realtors CARE® Blanket Drive was kicking off. Corwin donated to the drive, which this year supported victims of flooding via the Red Cross.
In October, Corwin took the initiative and personally delivered 50 extra large pizzas to five Lower Mainland hospitals. He felt compelled to give something back to the overworked medical staff who have been risking their lives to care for patients with COVID since March 2020.
Healthcare is something close to his heart; for the past 28 years, this busy REALTOR® has volunteered with St. John Ambulance (SJA) providing First Aid at community events. During the height of the pandemic, Corwin helped to establish a temporary field hospital at the Vancouver Convention Centre and was trained to assist the medical staff.
Most recently, he has been volunteering in a leadership role with SJA’s Youth Cadet Program. Young people aged 6–18 learn about first aid and healthy living. Corwin makes the program fun for participants.
