KidsPlay in the Pumpkin Patch

Surrey, B.C. – KidsPlay is a local grassroots charity that aims to keep kids away from a lifestyle of drugs, gangs, and violence by sharing positive experiences and modelling community leadership. Kuljit Minhas of the Minhas Group at Sutton - Premier Realty invited KidsPlay participants to be his special guests at the Port Kells Nursery.

On Saturday, October 14th, dozens of his clients, their children and KidsPlay members joined him for hours of fun exploring the Cedar Maze, the outdoor play area, face boards, games, and the nursery’s famous Pumpkin Patch.

“I reached out to the KidsPlay Foundation because I admire what they are doing by showing kids alternatives to a dangerous, destructive lifestyle,” Kuljit says. “The foundation keeps kids busy with outdoor activities and offers opportunities for them to make new friends and receive peer support.”

Kuljit and his team set up a booth where they offered free refreshments, goodie bags filled with candies, and vouchers for free pumpkins. This is the third time that they have held their client appreciation event at this location.

Kiran Toor, the Founder & President of KidsPlay notes, “The Minhas Group support our programs both financially and by donating their time. They invited over 20 of our families and youth to participate in the pumpkin event for free! Many of these kids had never been to a pumpkin patch before. Opportunities like this allow us to support the mental wellbeing of families as a whole. Many of our kids who attended this initiative come from adverse backgrounds and attend our Art Therapy program.”

Over 100,000 youth have benefited from KidsPlay's programs since its inception in 2015. “Through sports, mentorship, education, counselling, environment and community engagement programs, we strive to help our youth excel in all aspects of life,” Kiran says. “All of this is made possible because of funders like the Minhas Group.”
