ON – Would you like to expand your network and professional skills as you improve your community? Many charities in southern Ontario are in urgent need of volunteers for opportunities that are virtual or can be completed safely. In as little as two hours, you can make a real difference by supporting community radio, mentoring children, feeding the hungry, and volunteering to aid both the environment and families in need.

Have you dreamt of a radio career? CJRU 1280AM is a campus/community radio station that provides original, thought-provoking, and diverse content. The station is seeking volunteers to host programs, interview artists, review films, research the news and more. You do not need to be affiliated with Ryerson University to volunteer with the radio station. Email volunteer@cjru.ca for more information and to set up a training session.

Become a virtual mentor with the Halton Children's Aid Society and share your positive outlook on life with a child or youth in need of a role model. You can volunteer as little as two hours per month using digital platforms such as Skype. The society is also seeking virtual tutors in all subjects, especially math, English, science and French.

Habitat for Humanity GTA needs volunteers at multiple ReStore locations. ReStore helps the environment by diverting tools, building materials, etc. from the landfill then selling them to fund affordable housing projects. If you want to meet new people, give back and make a difference, contact the volunteer coordinator at volunteer@habitatgta.ca.

Volunteer MBC (Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon) lists numerous opportunities, but the most pressing and immediate need is for drivers with reliable vehicles who can pick up and deliver food within Brampton and Mississauga. Shifts are as short as a few hours.

Meals on Wheels in Toronto is in need of kitchen help, runners and drivers to meet increased demand. This non-profit organization delivers meals to clients who are unable to go grocery shopping and/or prepare their own nutritious meals.

If you are spending more time at home during the pandemic, consider volunteering on the Crisis Text Line for Kids Help Phone. Children and teens experience many stresses growing up, but now they also dealing with a pandemic. As a volunteer Crisis Responder, you can offer wisdom and support to young people.
