A Top Giving Agent
Oakville, ON – After more than 30 years of exceptional generosity, Wilma Fournier is still in awe of the inexplicable, yet predictable law of giving. She was recently named Oakville’s Top Giving Agent for 2022 and ranked sixth overall in Canada.
The Top Giving Agent distinction is an initiative of Rate My Agent. Participants are required to send in copies of their official, charitable receipts then Rate My Agent calculates and ranks the contributions of sales associates across Canada.
Wilma’s generosity has touched lives near and far. When the war in Ukraine escalated, she hosted a 50-person luncheon in her backyard to raise funds for charities that provide food, shelter, and medical treatment in war-torn regions. She has made significant donations to local food banks and summer camps and has participated in community events focused on assisting people who are struggling with poverty.
“In Oakville, we have 120 people who regularly sleep on the street. Last year, through the Coldest Night event, we were able to provide 120 sleeping packages each of which included a sleeping bag, socks, mitts, hot water bottles and food.”
She has also donated to World Vision, Compassion Canada, supported Romanian orphans, and visited Uganda to help build an orphanage. Currently, she is helping to fund the construction of high school classroom at a school in Guatemala via Loving Arms.
“I think there is a very close connection between success in this business and giving,” says Wilma. When asked what she means by that, she admits, “I don’t know; it’s very strange. It’s like gravity. It’s a law; cause and effect. When you give, something happens, even if others don’t know about all the things we support. I can’t even explain it. When agents ask me for advice on how they can be more successful, I say, ‘Give and you’ll see what happens’.”
Wilma notes that her family: husband Guy, son Kirk and daughters Holly and Charité, make giving a priority; they are inspired by their Christian faith to help alleviate poverty. “Giving is not limited to money; it is sharing time, encouragement, and what is yours.”
