A Life of Exceptional Contributions
Lethbridge, AB – When Audrey King entered the real estate industry as an office manager in 1980, she displayed a natural aptitude for the business, organizational know-how, and caring leadership. In fact, people affectionately referred to her as “the Chief Cat Herding Officer.” That was the beginning of 43 years of exceptional professional and community accomplishments that culminated last week in a special award.
At the local real estate board’s annual election and Christmas luncheon, REALTOR® Brad Cook called Audrey “a rockstar in our community” and someone with unquestionable dedication and commitment before naming her the 2023 Honorary Life Member of the Lethbridge and District Association of REALTORS® (LDAR).
This award recognizes Audrey’s decades of dedication. From her start as an office manager, she went on to co-own a Sutton brokerage, obtain her license, become a Broker, and serve on the local real estate board. During her nine years as an elected director for LREB (now known as LDAR), she served as Chair of Education, Finance Chair and Special Events Chair and she was President of the real estate board in 2006 and again in 2009. Audrey still sits on the Governance committee today
Among her many notable board contributions, during her tenure as Chair of Education, she brought the Real Estate Broker course to Lethbridge. She was also a member of the task force responsible for the planning and building of the new LDAR office building, which officially opened in January 2014.
Despite a busy career, Audrey always makes time for her family and community. She is a long-term and current member of the Lethbridge Rotary Club where she has played a key role in the annual Rotary AG scholarship program. She has volunteered at the Lethbridge Rotary Dragon Boat Festival since 2001.
To help local families build safe, affordable housing, Audrey spearheaded the Sutton Group - Lethbridge Habitat for Humanity Golf Tournament over many years. This holiday season, the brokerage is supporting the Lethbridge Family Services Angel Tree, an initiative to ensure that children in need have gifts to open on Christmas morning.
