Network in Nature

CANADA – As the summer heat eases and the smoke clears, it’s time to enjoy the great outdoors while you network with neighbours and colleagues. Spend a few hours volunteering at a festival, outdoor theatre, farmers’ market, sporting event, or fundraiser.

You will meet new people, share a few laughs, and pay forward your success. The connections you make can grow exponentially.

Consider these opportunities across Canada:

  • British Columbia: NatureKids BC is looking for Club Leaders to organize monthly hands-on outdoor field trips; Canadian Red Cross needs assistance managing their Health Equipment Loan Program; as a Shoreline Cleanup Ambassador with Ocean Wise, you can help reduce plastic pollution; and BCG needs tutors and activity leaders.

  • Alberta: Roll up your sleeves to cook at the United Way’s Bissell Centre or create kits for schoolchildren; greet guests at Ronald McDonald House; be a volunteer driver with CNIB or Meals on Wheels; and try your hand as a gallery interpreter, workshop assistant, host, or program leader with the Telus World of Science.

  • Saskatchewan: MS Society of Canada is seeking participants and volunteers for their MS Bike event on September 16; Canadian Red Cross needs Safety and Wellbeing Responders as well as Emergency Management volunteers; The Make-A-Wish Canada Golf Classic invites volunteers and players to be part of their September 15th tournament.

  • Manitoba: Harvest Manitoba welcomes office teams, individuals and families to help sort and distribute food to people in need; CIBC Run for the Cure is seeking participants and volunteers for the late September fundraiser; the Humane Society is seeking animal lovers to foster a pet or improve life for abandoned animals at a local shelter.

  • Ontario: Change the course of a life by volunteering as a Youth Mentor with YMCA; join your neighbours in the Parkinson Canada SuperWalk (happening on September 9 or 10 in 30 locations across Canada); greet donors at Canadian Blood Services; or lead youth in outdoor activities and conservation projects with the Canadian Wildlife Federation.

  • Maritimes: Family SOS Association needs Community Market Volunteers to organize food hampers for families in need; Best of Local (a food, wine and talent event) on October 19th supports Autism Nova Scotia; Big Brothers Big Sisters requires volunteers with a love of sports for their Game On! program.
