Give a Turkey Dinner
Vancouver, B.C. – Raymond Lui, a REALTOR® with Sutton Group - West Coast Realty, has a convenient option for busy brokers and sales associates planning to make contributions in 2024. He has launched www.giveaturkey.ca with a link to a GoFundMe page to simplify the donation process and make it transparent.
“My 6-year-old daughter, Ivina, and I started Give a Turkey to give out holiday dinners to families in need discretely selected by an elementary school’s principal,” Raymond says.
“When people go for turkey dinners in public community settings, they may feel uneasy or ashamed. I wanted families to make memories and share the joy with each other and close friends in the comfort of their own home.”
Ivina and Raymond are hopeful that providing a delicious, nutritious meal to enjoy at home will help families foster a sense of togetherness, warmth, and individuality. Being able to count on a nice holiday meal, parents and children may be able to focus on having a memorable gathering and feel the glimmer of hope for the new year.
That sort of positive family experience can have a lasting impact. “With this project, we also want to impact kids and inspire them to pay it forward to people in their community when they are able.”
Although Raymond’s Give a Turkey idea was just fresh out of the oven in 2023, they managed to provide five full holiday dinners in December. The recipients enjoyed turkey, squash, carrots, potatoes, cranberry sauce, and stuffing. Everything was pre-cooked and ready for reheating at dinnertime.
